I realize that there are a lot of things among my list of fall favorites that aren't necessary to life. I certainly could make do without them. But...
...there is such joy in knowing that God, the Creator of colored leaves, orange pumpkins, juicy apples, and spicy cinnamon, calls me to supply beauty in the lives of my family. This great God invites and welcomes me to use all my senses in creating a haven...a refuge...for my family.
That's why I swap out my floral scented candles for spicy fall scents. That's why I pack away my beach and lake-themed decor in exchange for reflections of the autumn beauty outside my window. That's why I bake more than usual, taking advantage of the season's apples, pumpkins, and other bounty.
Because I believe that in some small way, those little touches that bring me so much joy bring my Father joy, too. And that's really what it's all about.
