At the conclusion of each year, I begin thinking and praying about the word that I want to characterize my life in the coming year. It's not so much a resolution---it's a prayer, a desire from my inner core, a realization and conviction of what I need. Admittedly, there are many, and it's often hard to narrow it down to one simple word. While the words "invest" and "embrace" came to mind (also needed), I believe the one thought God is impressing on my heart as this new year dawns is, simply put, relax. It's simple to write it, not so simple to do it.
This word likely means many things to different people. For my purposes, it comes straight from Psalm 46:10 ~ "Be still (relax) and know that I am God."

Quit striving...Quit worrying...Quit agonizing and arguing and running around trying to control things...Quit attempting life on your own.
Instead...
*Hush*...Rest...Trust. Know that I am your Hope...your Refuge...your King. Be convinced that I am able to do abundantly, exceedingly above all you can ask or think.
Relax, Nikki. You're safe. You're secure. I am God. I've got you...and those you love...in My grip. And I love you. Oh, how I love you.
