Despite my newfound talent (hah!) last fall, I'm still not a true football fan. Oh, I jump on the proverbial bandwagon when our team is doing well, but in truth, I don't care a hill of beans. So when my husband understandably wanted to cheer on our team in the NFL playoffs over the weekend, I deemed it a good time to try my hand at a few projects.
First , the infamous coffee filter wreath seen everywhere in Blogland. I love the purity and simplicity of it. So, for a mere $2 (and a few burned fingertips), I ended up with this:
It's not as good as some of the other ones I've seen online, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with my first attempt.
Once upon a time, my husband and I dated long-distance---for 3 1/2 years, to be exact. That was before the days of email, facebook, and cell phones. We talked on the phone every Sunday. And we wrote letters. Hundreds and hundreds of letters. We still own every single one of them. Unfortunately, Valentine's Day in this house is often an afterthought, as I'm in the throes of Sweetheart Banquet prep. So before life got too hectic this season, I decided to make a little Valentine's craft. On Saturday afternoon, I sat on the floor of one of our closets with an open box...a treasure trove, if you will...of our cherished love letters, looking for just the right ones for my little project. Ultimately, I chose a couple old ones from our dating days and the rest from our married life. I made copies and then came up with this: modge-podged love letters on a cardboard heart. It hangs on the mirror in our bedroom---a sweet, simple reminder of where we've been, where we're going, and how amazingly blessed we are.
All in all, I discovered this weekend that football really isn't so bad.
