The Time of Singing (and Painting) Has Come ~ Day 2

It's the time of year when we start thinking about freshening up.  As the world comes alive with newness, it seems we want our surroundings to reflect that, as well.

I was, perhaps, the last one to come to the realization that paint makes one of the easiest, cheapest, and most dramatic transformations to things we may have deemed "trash."   Over the past few years, though---looking with new eyes---I discovered potential treasures sitting among my garage sale stash.  I figured, if I'm not liking or using it as it is now, what do I have to lose by painting it?  The best case scenario?  I'll breathe new life into something I ordinarily would have thrown out and end up loving it.  Worst case scenario?  It's no better than it was and I throw it out anyhow.  We have to suck it up. Be brave.

You know what?  I've never been disappointed.

I painted an old brass lamp base that simply wasn't my style.  I had packed it away because I just wasn't feeling it anymore.  But then I got brave.  And I broke out a can of spray paint.  And I loved it.  That gave me the courage to try other things.  I painted a wicker chair, chargers, jars, and a dresser.

Over spring break, I'm going to break out the paint on my bathroom vanity...a bookcase for our son's room (which I've been promising him for months)...and an old toy box I want to resurrect as a coffee table.

How 'bout you?  Have you discovered the power of paint in resurrecting discarded, lifeless pieces?

I love your projects. Do you always use spray paint? Details, I want details! :)

No, Gwen, I use regular paint, too. The spray paint just happens to work best for some things. For the dresser, I used an old can of paint from a previous project which I found in our basement. In the next few days, I'll check out the "oops" paint at Home Depot---cheap!
