Lamp Re-do

Sometimes "it" hits out of nowhere.
The creativity bug.
I'll spy something in my house that needs a little pizazz.
I know (or at least I'm pretty sure) I can give it a fresh new look for cheap (or better yet, nothing).

That's how it was this weekend.
A tired, old bedroom lamp was crying out for a bit of attention.
It's been with us at least 15 years.

I knew I had black spray paint on hand.
And I also had leftover burlap coffee sacks from our Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head project last fall.

Have I mentioned I <3 burlap?

When I got a little too impatient with the spray paint and sprayed too heavily (which I often do), I ended up with ugly runs.  I decided to wait for them to dry, sand them down, and start again.  However, as I started sanding, I decided I liked the distressed look.  And tada!  A new lamp was born.

What projects are you working on this summer?

Love the lamp! I so admire crafty friends. I, on the other hand, have made a promise to myself not to buy anything that doesn't already look the way I want it to look. I think I have a crafty head and heart, but not crafty hands. The ideas just don't flow well from brain to product. *sigh*

I also love burlap and have chosen curtains that look like burlap for our den. :)
