One of my treasured belongings is my book of quotes...a black and white toile covered journal that was given to me by a friend. Prior to receiving this gift, I'd been inspired to begin a book of quotes, and this was just the perfect place to begin. Whenever I hear or read a quote that speaks to my heart, I record it in my journal the first opportunity I get.
Quotes inspire me...make me think. I'm spurred on by the thoughts of others who have walked a similar path. Reading the discoveries, heart cries, convictions, and challenges of others gives me courage and hope.
It's probably no surprise that most of my book of quotes is filled with the topics near and dear to my heart...my relationship with God, my husband, my sons, my friends, and my home. As homemaking seems to be a resounding theme in my life right now (and more specifically...cleaning), I thought I'd share some of my favorite "home" quotes in the coming days. And then I'm going to get off the computer so that I can actually work on maintaining and improving this nest of comfort for my beautiful family.
"Every room in it meant something...It had the look that houses wear when they have been loved for years...It was a house where nobody ever seemed to be in a hurry...a house from which nobody ever went away without feeling better in some way...a house in which there was always laughter...the very walls seemed soaked in it. It was a house where you felt welcome the moment you stepped into it. It took you in...rested you. The very chairs clamoured to be sat upon, so hospitable was it."
~ Lucy Maud Montgomery
As a new week begins, may each one of us take joy...not in decorating...but in creating an atmosphere of warmth and joy for the ones we're blessed to call "family."
