"As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him."
Psalm 103:13
This verse has come alive and become real to me as I've witnessed the love and godly example of the dads in my life: my husband, my own father, and my father-in-law. My heart swells with thanksgiving as I consider how God has used each of these extraordinary men to give me a better understanding and a clearer picture of His compassion and mercy for me; to wholeheartedly embrace Him as my Father...my "Abba," Daddy.
I watch in amazement as I see my husband interact with our boys; as he loves and disciples and nurtures their hearts. He selflessly serves each one of us. He sacrificially gives of himself and his time and all that he has. My heart overflows with joy as I see our boys taking after him in so many ways. Through his consistent example...and his humility when he is wrong...they are learning what it means to be a man.
I'm downright giddy that I get to partner with him in raising the incredible sons God has entrusted to our care. And I'm glad...so glad...that years from now, when our boys have grown and left our little nest, I'll have the ongoing privilege of walking with this amazing man God has brought to me. I look forward to even further depth and richness throughout all the years ahead.
To my faithful husband...my wise father...and my loving father-in-law...thanks for setting the pace. Happy Father's Day!
