I'm not a minty kind of girl. I can easily pass up mint-chocolate chip ice cream, Andes Candies, and spearmint gum. I'll likely turn down the offer of peppermint discs, wintergreen Tic Tacs, or traditional candy canes.
This makes it difficult for me to find an agreeable breath freshening companion for my purse. I am a fan of cinnamon Altoids. And once a year, when visiting an English specialty shop, I buy a tin of rose-flavored mints. But I crave variety!
So it was with great excitement that I discovered Lemon-Pomegranate Ice Breakers a couple of years ago. They made me happy and tasted sooo refreshing!
One day a couple of months ago, I was standing in line at the grocery store and prepared (as I often did) to add a tin of my favorite breath fresheners to the conveyor belt. Gasp! They weren't there! Convinced it was a fluke, I wasn't too worried. They'd be there next time.
But they weren't.
I visited other stores where I'd bought them in the past, and in each case, my favorite mints were curiously absent from the shelf.
For the past several months, I've been missing my Ice Breakers. I've tried other things, but nothing has measured up. Orange Tic Tacs make too much noise in my purse when I walk. I quickly grow bored with gum...
Then on Friday night, our son had some buddies over for his birthday sleepover. As he was opening his gifts, he removed a small wrapped gift from the top of a larger package. As he shed its outer layers, he unveiled a beautiful yellow tin of Lemon-Pomegranate Ice Breakers!
"WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE?!?" I shouted to our son's friend.
"At Target," he replied with trembling. "They're on clearance."
Jon and I exchanged knowing glances, and had it not been so late, I'd have been booking it over to Target that very night.
The next day, Jon drove our son's friend home, then ran a few errands. When he returned home, he was holding his hands behind his back. And much to my delight, he revealed this:
A case of my very own Lemon-Pomegranate Ice Breakers, just for me.
Who knew mints could make a girl feel so loved?
