Each Wednesday afternoon, our middle son serves at a local public elementary school where our church conducts a "Good News Club." When it's nice weather, he likes to walk. And since today is in the 50's and the sunshine is smiling down upon us, he shed his jacket and almost giddily slipped out the back door. I could tell that the sunshine and returning warmth had put a spring in his step.
He just called me.
Why?
To let me know he'd spotted the first robin of the year.
It means hope and renewal.
It reminds us that God keeps His promises.
And it means I owe my Ryan a Cadbury Creme Egg.
I have yet to spot my first robin of the year.
But our son's phone call has put a bounce in my step, too.
The winter is over and gone.
The time of singing and rejoicing has come.
